William Maher

William C. (Bill) Maher, 73, passed away on January 1st, 2021.  Born and raised in Newton, MA, to the late William and Marion Maher, he lived in the states of Maryland, Illinois, and New Jersey before settling in Wilbraham, MA 22 years ago.  He had a successful business career as a chief life underwriter for  several companies and consulting firms prior to retiring.  Bill served as president of the NEHOUA (NorthEast Home Office Underwriters Association) and received several work-related honors.  He was an avid golfer, played adult hockey for many years, and loved all New England sports teams.  He enjoyed traveling and long walks with his pets.  Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joanne AnelloMaher and his daughter Alicia Maher.  He also leaves his sister Dorothy Maher and brother Richard.  He will be missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and good friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts (foodbankwma.org) or a charity of your choice. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Bill "Muzzy" Maher born Newton MA graduated Newton North High Scholl Class of 1965. Earned his Masters in Business at Suffolk University Boston MA. His successful business career was in Insurance Underwriting. Bill married Joanne Anello and they brought into this world a beautiful daughter Alicia. Recently of Wilbraham MA leaving Joanne and Ali with his Love, ideals and fond memories. Bill also leaves his sister Dorothy and brother Richard. His mark on Life will carry on through his many relatives and friends with fond and lasting memories of a good man. Bill Maher... son, husband, father, sibling and friend... YOU will be missed. Grieve not for Bill's absence, Delight in the many happy moments we were able to share. Good bye my friend... Rest in peace and know you left an indelible mark in your life.

What sad news. You knew you would always get a warm hello and a big smile from Muzzy. He will be forever missed by his family and by his sidekick, Richie Ryan.
