Lee was committed to being the very best at what he could do very well. He willed himself into playing tennis with power and finesse, and he was a superb archer. We drove around together in his VW Beetle often, whether to the Wellesley tennis courts to play under the lights at night, or to obscure school gymnasia for archery competitions. Those memories are among my very best from high school. And he was crazy about Anne Hill. I'm very sorry I will not be seeing him again.
