Liz was such a good friend to so many people and took great pride and enjoyment in helping to plan past reunions.  Although she had many fond memories of her high school life, she was amazed at how many more friends she made by working tirelessly on reunion committees.  I believe it was our 10th reunion in which she became involved in the planning.  Although her daughter was born the day before the reunion, Liz would not consider missing the event.  She signed herself out of the hospital, came to the party and returned for the rest of her hospital stay later that evening.  Our 40th was the last one in which she was able to participate.  She passed away after several lingering illnesses in 2006.

I met Liz in the doll corner of the Burr School kindergarten when we were both 4 years-old.  Over the years, our lives entwined, ran parallel and converged again.  Our friendship matured with us from childhood, through our teens and young adult years, into our senior years, about 54 years of friendhip.  I would only need to think about her and the phone would ring.

That was Liz, always there to lend support through friendship, kindness, humor and generosity. She was always ready to help someone regardless of what was happening in her own life.  She faced many challenges, both physical and emotional throughout her life, but her life was secondary to everyone else's.  She faced the joys and sorrows of life with courage, tenacity and always with hope and humor.  I am pleased to have written her memoire as a keepsake for her children.  The title of this piece aptly describes Liz's life, "Seasons of Hope."  Although it saddens me to see how many of our classmates we have lost, I feel quite certain that Liz is organizing a 50th reunion in heaven!
